What is a VamosPay Card?
How do I apply for a VamosPay card?
Applying for the VamosPay card is easy, simply click here to begin the application process.
What information do I need to apply?
To apply, you will need to enter your name, physical U.S. mailing address, date of birth, phone number and social security number. You must be at least 18 years old and a permanent resident or U.S. citizen with a valid social security number to apply.
How long does it take to receive my VamosPay card?
You will receive your VamosPay card in the mail within 7-10 business days.
How do I activate my VamosPay card?
To activate your card, call Customer Service at 1-877-VamosPay (877-826-6772) or log-in here myaccount.vamospay.com.
How can I load funds onto my card?
You can easily fund your account using Direct Deposit or by loading cash or checks via approved methods. You can direct deposit your paycheck, tax refund or government benefits on your card by providing the appropriate entity with the routing and account numbers located on the back of your card. Besides direct deposit, you can load cash to your VamosPay card at thousands of retail locations nationwide. For retailer locator, please visit secure.attheregister.com/locations.
How can I set up direct deposit on the VamosPay card?
Setting up direct deposit is easy and it allows you to receive your pay up to 2 days 1 before pay day. You can set up direct deposit for your payroll, government benefits or tax refund and can choose to have all or part of paycheck or benefits deposited onto your VamosPay card – the choice is yours.

If your employer or benefits provider has their own form for setting up direct deposit, you will need to provide them with the following information:
- Routing Number
- Account Number
- Bank Name: Metropolitan Commercial Bank

How can I get my tax refund sent to my card?
Getting your tax refund sent to your VamosPay card is faster than waiting for a check to arrive in the mail. Just follow these simple steps to have your tax refund direct deposited to your card:
- Locate the Account and Routing Numbers on the back of your VamosPay card and add them to your tax form or provide them to your tax professional.
- Select “Checking” as your refund type on your tax form. Be sure the name on your form matches the name on your card.
- Review your balance or set up email and/or text 2 alerts to get notified when your refund has been deposited on your card.
If I direct deposit my paycheck to my card, will my employer know how I spend my money?
The VamosPay Prepaid Mastercard is not a payroll card so your employer, government agency or any other direct deposit payor cannot see how you spend your money because they do not have access to your account.
Why get a VamosPay card instead of just receiving a paper paycheck?
The VamosPay card is safer than carrying cash, more convenient than searching for a check-cashing store, and cheaper than check cashing fees. It allows you to pay bills, withdraw cash, pay for gas at the pump, make online purchases and more. In addition, you will be able to setup email and/or text alerts and more effectively track your spending with online access to your card activity through the complementary cardholder portal at myaccount.vamospay.com.
Using Your Card
How will I be able to access my funds?
Once the card has been activated and funds have been loaded, you can use it anywhere Mastercard is accepted worldwide. You may also withdraw cash at any ATM that displays Mastercard logo by entering your PIN (Fees may apply).
Is there a fee to withdraw cash at an ATM?
If you withdraw cash at one of the 25,000 MoneyPass Network ATMs available nationwide there is no fee 4. Go to Moneypass.com or download their app to find ATM locations near you. Otherwise, there will be a fee to withdraw cash at out-of-network ATMs.
Is overdraft allowed?
There are no overdraft capabilities on this card.
What if my VamosPay card is lost, damaged, or stolen?
If your card is lost or stolen, call our Customer Service number at 1-877-VamosPay (877-826-6772) as soon as possible to report the card missing. If you have the VamosPay app, you should also freeze your card immediately. We will then immediately disable the card and send you a replacement card in the mail within 7-10 business days. A Replacement Card Fee may apply. Your funds will automatically be added to the new card. If your card has been used without your authorization, you are covered by Mastercard Zero Liability Protection and can file a dispute.
Can my VamosPay card be used for online purchases?
Yes, you can securely place online orders with your favorite merchants up to the amount available on your card.
How can I find out how much money I have available on my card? Can I view my transaction history?
You can login to your personal account online at myaccount.vamospay.com or download the VamosPay mobile app to view your balance and all your transaction history. You can also call Customer Service at 1-877-VamosPay (877-826-6772) and either follow the prompts through the Automated Telephone Service to check your balance or speak to a live agent. Using the Automated Telephone Service will be faster than waiting for a live agent. The Automated Telephone Service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There is NO CHARGE for speaking to a live agent, using the Automated Telephone Service, using the VamosPay mobile app or logging in to your personal account online.
Can I use my VamosPay card to make a purchase greater than the balance on the card?
By using another form of payment in addition to your card you can still make purchases that exceed your available balance. Pay for part of your purchase with your VamosPay card and the second part with another form of payment. Let the cashier know in advance that you will be using two forms of payment, present the card and state the specific amount to be used, then pay the difference with your second form of payment: cash, credit, or check.
Why was my card charged for more than I authorized at the gas station?
When using your card at certain merchants, such as gas stations (at the pump), it may place an authorization hold on your card up to $75. This is just temporary, and once the gas station settles for the amount you pumped, the difference will be refunded to your card. It is recommended that you give your card to the station attendant and state exactly how much gas you want to purchase, instead of swiping your card at the pump. This could potentially avoid that temporary upcharge. Restaurants, hotels, and car rentals often obtain authorization for more than the transaction amount as well. Many restaurants, for example, factor in an automatic tip of up to 20% when authorizing card purchases. If your restaurant bill, plus the estimated tip exceeds the amount on the card it may be declined. Should this situation occur instruct the cashiers to deduct a specific amount from the card and use another form of payment for the balance or tip.
Can I pay bills with my card?
Yes, you can use your VamosPay card to pay bills online such as utilities, insurance, cable or any other service that accepts Mastercard prepaid cards as a form of payment.
What is the difference between selecting “Debit” or “Credit” at a merchant?
If you select “Debit” you will be asked to type in your PIN after swiping your card. If you don’t remember your PIN selecting “Credit” still allows you to use the card and the cashier will ask you to sign the receipt for the sale.
